I was browsing around on an App known as Whisper, when I found something that made me stop and think about the question above. (Click on and read the picture at the bottom of the post.)
I don't want to get too religious, so this idea of a "soul" can also be considered the "energy" or "life force" of a person. Anyway! What if Transgender people are souls/life forces that accidentally went into the wrong body? We can't assume to know how life is truly created, regardless of our beliefs.
What if that's where Trans people come from? What if Genderfluid people are 2 separate souls/life forces that went into the same body at the same time? Just some food for thought.
And to make things more interesting, think about this! Some people are born with BOTH sets of genitals. Now, I'm not claiming to be a scientist or a medical professional by any means, but when you think about it, if it's possible for a body to create both genitals on one body, is it not equally possible for the same thing to happen within the mind, or for the body and gender to not correlate with each other?
There's even a 'disease' called Body Integrity Identity Disorder, also known as B.I.I.D.
Here is a quote about this 'sickness' that jumped out at me.
Come on! People can even have specific parts of their body that they feel doesn't belong to them. Some of them "transition" by "removing" that body part. I DO believe this is why this disease is considered an illness. Because, obviously, what "sane person would purposefully change THEIR body"?
Transgender people would, and we aren't a disease! Yet so many spend their entire lives changing the way they look, speak, act, walk, dress, etc, etc. Surgery is sometimes the answer as well, but that's considered by most to be a 'cosmetic procedure' because it isn't "necessary". But we all know that's just a difference in opinion. (An arm versus breasts, for example.)
How are these people any different? The only difference is: most people don't care if we have a surgeon give us fake breasts or genital reassignment surgery because we have Gender dysphoria, but if it's an arm someone wants removed because of the same reason, they are considered "unhealthy" mentally.
Law, science and society has considered SO MANY people "mentally unhealthy" for centuries. Indians, blacks, gays, etc. I have a feeling, that this type of stuff will be completely solved one day soon, based on current medical advancement rates.
What do you guys think? I love a good-natured debate! :-)

"the oppressive feeling that one or more limbs of one's body do not belong to one's self"
