Here is the article.
What are your thoughts on this? She knows she can't "legally" enter the women's bathroom because she is in North Carolina, which has made that illegal. She is in the news trying to show that she doesn't belong in the men's room by taking a picture of herself in the women's room. Is she ASKING to be "made an example of"? Will the State actually follow up on this news article and arrest her? If they do, what happens if they get a conviction?? Trans rights will be set back decades! And a conviction is EASY. Watch:
1) Law was passed.
2) Trans woman broke new law or purpose and 'gloated' on the news.
3) The jury is instructed to make a decision "based on the evidence versus the written law". Basically, "Did she break the law? (And your opinion about the new bathroom law being 'fair' or not is not to influence your decision).
BAM! Conviction.
BUT, I know someone HAS to fight this! Is SHE setting herself up to be the new face of Trans-inequality by 'sacrificing' her future? This happens when a social injustice has become so extreme that people start to 'snap' and start fighting for their rights. The African-American community did this using Martin Luther King, walk-outs, sit-in's, ETC.
And these people often pay dearly for their trouble. Martin Luther King was assassinated by our very own United States Government. Yep! That's a fact! Look it up!!! :-)
But here are the REALLY IMPORTANT questions we need to be asking ourselves:
"Are we ready to stand behind these people?"
"Are we ready to stop sitting behind a computer screen and become proactive and actually fight for our rights?"
"Or are we going to let this world-wide media coverage, opportunity, slip away and let our rights get set back another 50 years?"
Really think about it. We need to make a decision. We need to start calling businesses and legislators, filing petitions, making phone calls and actually DOING something.
And I'm NOT implying that anyone hasn't done something. I'm just saying that we need to really step-up to the plate if we want to be treated like people any time in the next decade.
